A make-up artist for more than 30 years, Cheryl Harvey Gorey works regularly for NBC Sports and the Chicago Blackhawks. She has worked with other TV, film and sports celebrities*, too. She does the make-up for many bridal parties. Whether it is a movie star or the bride’s mom, she loves it. “I believe everyone has a natural beauty and I want my make-up to help bring that forward.”

She got her start doing make-up when family friend WGN radio broadcaster Orion Samuelson asked her to do his makeup for some programs. That led work with on-air talent at NBC-5. Later she partnered with Harpo Studios and Pampered Chef founder Doris Christopher.

It was the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup wins that have brought her the most excitement lately. She continues to do make-up and touch-ups for the announcers during regular and playoff games. “I just love taking care of them. It’s the mother in me.”

On the night of the 2013 Stanley Cup win, she piled onto the ice with the rest of them. “I didn’t hold up the cup. That’s not my place. That’s for the team and their families. I was still working.”
